I received a call this morning from some woman working for some company insisting I must pay $800+ for some debt that we supposedly owed. She repeatedly stated that "9 letters" had been sent to me over the course of the last 2 yrs. and since I never responded to any of those supposed letters I "must pay today" the amount in collection. I told her repeatedly that no letters were ever received as we moved nearly 3 yrs. ago. I offered to give her the new address so she could send a copy of those "9 letters" for validation and potential payment of any debt shown to be truly owed, She refused to accept that answer and each time she began to talk over me repeatedly insisting I pay the alleged amount owed right now over the phone. When she was told that I would have to see some sort of paperwork before I paid anything she became quite upset and irritated slightly raising her voice and becoming more insistent that I pay "now". Once I told her that I wasn't paying anything until I saw some paperwork that validated the amount in collections was even my responsibility she told me to give her the new address, which I did, though I can't say that she truly wrote it down. It just didn't sound like she was writing it down (you know what I mean, quickly repeating back any part of the address I was giving her) but once again she insisted that I must pay the amount owed today. I informed her several times that I wouldn't be paying anything today or tomorrow or next week until I had some paperwork validating the amount that was owed and to whom for what supposed bill I owed. She was very brusque and clearly agitated when I wouldn't agree to pay her this random amount for a bill only she said I owed. *RME* This number came up on one or two other sites as belonging to a collection agency of questionable tactics, including not giving the name of the collection agency, the original agency owed, the actual amount owed, etc.
Beware of calls coming in from this and perhaps other numbers. Never comply with requests like this one without having documentation showing who the collector is, who the original collector is and the actual amount owed. Some of these places really boggle my mind. *SMH*
