They are from the country of India, and they've been doing this awhile. You'll probably get a call every couple days from a different number, but you'll notice the person's voice is basically the same. They are running a scam where they try to scare you into sending them your credit/debit card info so they can clear the "payment" you owe for a payday loan you probably never took. So far, I've gotten calls from area codes in San Francisco, Martha's Vineyard, Oklahoma City, and now Cambridge, MA. They use either the company name "American Law Associates" or "Department of Law and Investigations." Don't fall for their script; which if you listen in the background on some calls you can hear others saying the exact same thing the person said to you. They are fun to call back and mess with. They lose their temper easy and will start cussing you out. Last week I told them they were running a scam and to quit calling me (which didn't work) and the caller told me I was an "American cry-baby."
