This number just called me saying i have a lawsuit how do i stop these numbers from calling me

Debt collector asking for the previous owner of my new phone #.  How do I stop them from calling me?  This is getting to be an harassment.

Your new phone number, is someone's old phone number. If it's a cell phone, look into a call blocking app. Landline, a call blocking device. I do have one suggestion: If you decide to change your phone number again, for the first while DO NOT have voice mail. It just tells them the number is live, & of course, don't call back numbers you don't know.

I applied online for a small unsecured loan (I have bad credit). Suddenly I get BOMBARDED with phone calls from various loan companies, and from this clown. He has a very heavy Indian accent and is very difficult to understand (he calls himself Steven Smith from Legal and McKenzie Law Firm...whatever). His message (on my voice mail) was this: "Since you have not called back, the police will be at your door tomorrow morning, and you will be going to jail for six months, and no one will be able to help you. You will be FINISHED".  I am tempted to call him back (to find out where he is really calling from) so I can report him for this harassment. I highly doubt this is a real bill collector, these calls only started right after I applied for a loan.

I just got the same call from 508 463 0716 from Baker & mcKenzie law firm saying I owe them for a payday loan that I did not get. In 45 min I would be served and go to jail for 6 months or so. This is a scam its going around alot.
