Maybe you should go along with Pissed off and do some reading too. It is doing what it was set up to do in 2003.
It has nothing to do with blocking each and every unwanted phone call to anyone. My goodness thare are over 1 billion 500 million phone calls made each day in the world. It is just a LIST! A list of people who don't want to be called by Telemarketers. Not a mechanical computer, not an army of staff, no nothing! Just a LIST! A list that is collected and maintained by the FTC. It is not a Department of the Government of highly paid workers. Just a part of the FTC that collects and makes changes or deletions when someone requests. A list that is required to be purchased by Registered (with the FTC) American Telemarketing companies. When these Legitimate Telemarketers are in violation and complaints are filed, they are easily found by simply getting out their FTC file or picking up a phone book. It is 16k per violation. It is the scammers and scofflaws that are doing the calling. Something that the DNC was never intended or capable to deal with. That caller who is harassing everyone is not a legitimate business. It is a scammer! The DNC has no way to mechanically Block or immediately seize any scammer who is hidden and spoofs caller IDs. Especially when most of them are off shore or overseas.. It is fine to criticize, but at least learn something about what it is that you are criticizing..
