Per the FDCPA, debt collections agencies MUST mail - not email or fax - documentation to you proving that you owe a debt to them. However, you must ask them to do this, otherwise you may only receive the standard dunning letter asking for payment.
Since these callers are refusing to give you any information about your alleged debt, you can tell them that per the FDCPA, you owe them nothing. Advise them that your attorney (even if you don't have one) has told you to record all calls they make to you at work, home, cell for multiple violations of the FDCPA. Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.
Let your workplace know you're being harassed by scammers. Bottom line - any legitimate, law abiding debt collector will be happy to mail you documentation proving you owe them a debt. Never pay money to anyone who can't or won't send you proof of debt.
