Thank you so much Giorgios, but we already tried this route the first day. We were on the phone with Verizon for almost two hours arguing over the fact that they do not provide call block or call intercept in our particular area of PA (we tried *60 and a whole lot more). That was our first remedy and we were left with nothing. Spoke to supervisors, different offices, and got nowhere. I'm still disgusted that Verizon does not have these services in our area as it should be available to all Verizon users. I am from the West Coast and not only do they have call block, but they offer it in a bezillion ways no matter where you live! We have learned a great deal since my last update.
These insects that continue to call over and over again, who laughed at the fact that I have cancer and hung up only to continue to call us daily, are contracted by a company called "Affordable Power, Gas, & Electric" out of Texas. You can find their website which shows their number. My husband played along with the person who called us last in a desperate attempt to find out who these monsters are, and the representative he spoke to admitted who they are calling on behalf of and why. When my husband asked too many questions, the person hung up on him just like they did with me (and yet they continue to call)! At least we learned who they are! I have never experienced anything like this with a company in my life.
I called and spoke to a representative there at APGE out of Texas, and sure enough, they knew who they were when I said ERG/Energy Resource Group, and told me that they are located in Alabama (and that a police officer had contacted them out of Alabama after finding all these files with personal information on people)! I was stunned that he offered this to me, but he did. Apparently this company is as unscrupulous as they come. He brought this up after I told him that we have had to involve law enforcement as well (and we have). I didn't believe him for a minute when he swore that his company had broken ties with these people a month prior! It sounded incredibly flimsy and fishy. I figured since they supposedly broke ties with this horribly unscrupulous company that is continuing to make calls on their behalf for no good reason, they wouldn't mind giving me the number of ERG so that my husband or I could give it to the police department we are working with. Suddenly he said that he could not access the file, but said that he would definitely call me back the next day and asked me if I would be home around 2PM. That he was going to talk to the owner when he got back in (that call never came). It was a load of bull.
We have now filed a complaint with the Public Utilities Commission as well. Here we were thinking that these calls were coming from out of the country because of the outrageous and highly illegal behavior and utter disregard for the law, and yet all this time they were coming from a company right here in America who knows they are breaking federal laws! I am guessing they must be doing very well if they can afford $16,000 a pop in fines each time they continue to call us after they have been put on notice (and we are on the Federal Do Not Call List so they get fined from day one). That's a lot of money and we intend to see that they are fully fined if it's the last thing we do.
