Got this call today and knew it was a scam as soon as I answered it. When they said my computer was having issues and flooding the internet with data I told them that was weird considering my computer was turned off.....a long pause and then...click....dial tone! lol

Clearly sounds like a scam.  They indicate they are Gadget Electronics and will not answer any questions directly put to them.  A Google search did not produce a company named Gadget Electronics.  Say they are employed by Microsoft and are in Phoenix, Arizona.  They did not give me any information to verify their status.

I had never received a call from Microsoft nor from a company stating that they work for Microsoft, until now...
A caller with an accent called from 480-4094623 said that they (Microsoft) were receiving notices from my computer stating that Windows was not updating.
First the caller asked me to press the Windows button + R, which brings up the "Run" command. He then asked me to type "eventvwr", which stands for "Event Viewer". I did this and sure enough Windows Event Viewer popped up. He asked me to go to Custom Views.... Administrative Events and click. This brought up a list of 11,982 events. The first two events  read "Error.... 7/27/2015  3:03:21 PM... Dhcp-Client...  Event ID 1001.. Task Category Address Configuration". The caller then asked me to open another "Run" window and type www.teamviewer.com and press Enter. I DID NOT. Instead, I typed "www.teamviewer.com" and "www.teamviewer.com scam" in Google. I found this site and others stating that this was a scam/phishing attempt.
I told the caller that and official Microsoft post stated that this is a phishing attempt, and I told him I didn't think he was from Microsoft. I turned the tables and then started asking him for HIS information. I said "I'm going to have to research this a little. In the meantime, I need YOUR phone number, YOUR name, YOUR company name and YOUR company address. I have to admit the guy kept to his storyline. He said he was going to investigate why the Microsoft post said what it did, and how could this be possible since his company was working for Microsoft! He gave me the phone number 800-917-4305 and the name John Mason. I asked for the company name and address and quickly barked out "Okay, sir, bye" and hung up. I Googled the phone number and there were only 3 hits, all of them in Chinese. Scam all the way!
