SUSPICIOUS PHONE CALL AND CONTENT. Called my cell phone (which has an Iowa number) just before 4pm eastern time. Hard to hear- combination of an accent and a bad connection. Was asking about "my computer" and something about windows operating system. I assumed it was a call from our campus tech people about upgrading to Windows 10 which we had been advised against, but when I told him this office had a mac he then asked about "the other computer," and I told him the windows computers in the lab aren't "mine" so I am not responsible for them, and then he asked if he could speak with "the person in my household" who was in charge of the "other computer" which didn't make any sense given what I'd told him and who I had assumed he was, plus at this point I realized he called my cell, not my office computer, and if he really were somehow legitimately involved with upkeep of the Dartmouth lab computers he would be calling the office phone. Plus he hadn't identified himself in the first place. I then asked "wait, who do you think I am? What is the name of the person you're trying to call?" at which point he said "sorry I think I have a wrong number" and hung up. I'm not sure how exactly this call could be harmful to me but it was extremely suspicious. Maybe if I had said "yes I'd like to upgrade to windows 10" he would have asked for information I shouldn't give, or directed me to a dangerous website? No idea. But suspicious.
