Called this morning. Would not give me any name but said that it was an important business matter. Gave my correct 1st name and asked me to verify my last 4 digits of my Social Security number. The numbers were incorrect but I also made sure that I did not say the word "yes" in any of my answers. 2nd time for them to call me but 1st time I answered the phone.

If you call that number they ID themselves as "UPEN".  No idea what that is.  YOu can hear a call-center in the background and the person who I talked to had some sort of an accent that I could not place.  Refused to give me any more information and became argumentative.  This seems like some sort of off-shore or overseas debt scamming operation.  Simply ignore and block any calls from this number.

They said the company was UFEN and the caller ID said Adairsville, Georgia. She said the company does personal business.

They called me yesterday saying that theyve been trying to collect a debt from me for 9 years. Saying i was hospitalized in 2009 at southern regional - a lie. The bill which they claimed theyve been contacting me for many years (a lie) was in the amount of $166...(really? For a fake hospitalization) I told them that this must be a fradulent claim and i asked for the statement to be emailed or mailed to me so i could verify what this bill was for and they told me that they dont send emails or letters with confidential info (BS) the "manager" gets on the phone sounding like a hoodrat...she hangs up on me. Will be blocking the number. Scammers can rot in hell

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
