The IRS does not initiate communications
with a "cold call" to unsuspecting people.
Instead
The IRS always sends a letter, first!

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

I got the same call as above.  U.S. Treasury.  Ignoring this call will lead to legal action.  You are to appear before a magistrate judge.
