Assert your rights. I have worked for a collection attorney, which is much different than a collection agency(no rights, just can make phone calls). Burt and Associates can doing nothing without a judgement. You will first have to be served a petition by an attorney. That is when you need to contact an attorney. Burt and Associates will not be in business if nobody answers their phone calls, nor pay them any money. The tatics they use are illegal. Any legit company does not need to make threats, they will advise you on how they will proceed and follow through. Report them to the FTC.

If you owe the debt, call the original creditor and make sure they still have rights to your account. Try to work something out with them. Once an account goes to an attorney, it will have extra costs associated with it, and if judgment is rendered they can garnish wages, bank accounts and so forth.COLLECTION AGENCIES CAN DO NOTHING. IGNORE THEM!
