unknown number to me

Got a call from this number.  Did not pick it up because I did not recognize the number.  The voicemail that was left was just a woman sighing and then hanging up.  This same number called back a few seconds later.  Still did not pick it up because I did not recognize it.  Then the voicemail was from a woman named "Sandra" who asked me to call a 877 number regarding an upcoming doctor's appointment.

I called the 877 number and they wanted to know my full name and get all my insurance information (which I did not give them) so that they could verify my insurance information and process my copay BEFORE the appointment "to save me time".  It seemed very shady since they could not "pull me up in their system" because it was down at the time.  And they did not know any of my doctors names or who referred me to the appointment.  The gal on the phone was very talkative and sounded professional but everything she was saying sounded like it was meant to be confusing.  Official sounding, but confusing.  And the "system was down" the whole time.  

SHADY.  

Please be careful if anyone asks you for your name, birthday, insurance information.  Medical offices, hospitals, insurance companies SHOULD ALREADY HAVE THIS INFO.  Do not give it out over the phone!

This number is actually a call center number to help hospitals financially clear their patients prior to their visit.  The number is valid.  Sometimes when the system at the hospital is down or correct information wasn't received when the appointment was scheduled the call center will have limited information.

This is Conifer...I believe they are an employment agency for hospital/medical jobs. They just called and left a message about a job I applied for.

You expect to call people up and have them give up their info to you?  Think again!
