The number may have been a real persons phone number that has been spoofed by extortion scammers. They can make the call look like its comes from any where in the world by spoofing the caller id. Your caller has one thing in mind, and that is to extort money out of you.
One important thing to remember if these losers have any of your personal information such as your social security number, date of birth or drivers license make sure you register with identity protection notify the credit agencies as well as your banks!!
