I answered a call from that number today. It's a solicitor. He asked me to donate to a "homeless veterans fund." I recognized his voice from 2 previous calls I received in the last year (not sure what those numbers were though). I remember him because he has a country accent, sounds elderly, and is very polite, but annoyingly and suspiciously persistent. What makes me uncomfortable about him is that when he called last time, he tried to guilt me into giving money. (When I told him I wasn't interested in the campaign for like the fifth time, he said something along the lines of, "So what you're saying is you're not interested in donating just a few of your dollars to help the men and women that gave up their precious lives for our country and freedom?" He proceeded to describe to me the hardships of being a Soldier. It almost sounded like he was becoming angry.) Also, I'm pretty sure he said he was collecting money for wounded warriors last time. Today the guy was more polite. I explained to him I am actually a Soldier that regularly makes donations thru the CFC, which is a credible campaign the Army supports. He immediately stopped his soliciting tactics and politely agreed to stop calling.
My advice... Be wary of this one. There are Wounded Warrior campaigns out there, but they don't do cold calling. I know of a campaign to help homeless vets, but again, this group doesn't do cold calling.
