Home security crap.  Stop calling us!!!

got a call but did not answer them...

Just got the same call.

"Do not hang up! Congratulations!"

So I hung up.

Now then. If they are installing "home security" systems, this is easy. Make an appointment for them to come out. Find out who they really are. This says they're in Texas. Maybe the call, or home office, is there, but if they are calling you in some other location, they must have local outlets doing the work. Find out who that is when they come to your house. Then sue for multiple violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act -- calling numbers on the do not call list, using prerecorded message... spoofing their ID...  more if you can think of any.

More on the pre-recorded, autodialer calls -- these are a blatant violation of the TCPA.

Generally, the Act prohibits a person or entity from making a telephone call to a residential telephone number if the call contains an artificial or prerecorded message that is delivered by an autodialer or by any other means. However, such a call is permitted if:

(1) the call is an emergency call that is necessary to ensure the recipient's health and safety;

(2) the recipient has given prior express consent to receive the call;

(3) the call is a non-commercial call;

(4) the call does not include any unsolicited advertisements or constitute a telephone solicitation;

(5) the call is made by or on behalf of a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization; or

(6) the call is made by a person or entity with whom the recipient has an established business relationship.

Still more on this scam. I went through my phone logs and found that I had gotten a call from a completely different area code (Los Angeles) also claiming to be "home security." People here report the same message: "Do not hang up! Congratulations!" etc.

So these two numbers are somehow related under the same scam. All it takes is somebody to pin down exactly who this is, with a physical location, corporate name, and a person to whom the sheriffs should serve the court papers...
