No, I received no additional correspondence from him. After I discovered it was a scam, I told him the treadmill was sold. That was the easiest way to discontinue contact with this thief.
This scam is a common one. If you provided him with any personal information (name, phone number, address, bank info, etc.), it might behoove you to notify the authorities and DO NOT ship anything to him:
Beware of Classified Ad Fraud
1. Phone number listed in ad is wrong.
2. Buyer or seller explains that they are currently out of the country or outside the state.
3. Buyer offers to pay with a money order or cashiers check for significantly more than the asked for price. 4. Seller asks to have money wired to them or payed via an online service and states that the item will require delivery.
5. Buyer or seller requests unreasonable personal or financial information.
6. Ad or offer is poorly written, generic, or strange sounding.
7. Offer is simply too good to be true.
