Got the free iPad message from this number, saying I had won some contest.  Only problem is, the number they sent the message to is my work cell phone and I never use it for such things.  Clearly a scam.

I just got the same text message from the same number. I don't enter myself into any contests so it's obviously a scam.

Side note: I'm originally from Monterey, CA! :)

If this were legitimate, they would include their name and address in the text message.  Instead they send you to a cryptically named web site.  This just doesn't smell fishy, it reeks!

I just got the same message and I'm from Santa Cruz...they must be targeting 831 numbers!

Yes I also received this same text at 6am this morning and i live in Santa Cruz county as well
