If she does not know and is not related to any of these people she gets calls for, then how in the world would her phone number have been placed in the file, execpt illegitimately?
Anyone who reads these threads has seen over and over again that many debt collectors often do NOT stop calling a number even if they are told that the person in question does not live there and is unknown to the person being called. Too many scam debt collectors clearly do NOT mind calling wrong numbers long distance over and over again if they think they can shake the person down for some money.
What good does it do to tell Mary that she should be mad at the person they are looking for -- if you can't find the correct person, how do you suppose Mary is going to find that person and yell at her? Mary has every right to be mad at the companies that call her number over and over for the wrong person.
If you're one of the few legitimate debt collectors, then great. But you've got to realize that many are not legitimate and people are pissed off at their tactics.
