international cc's company, left voicemail claiming that I had won $2.5M and they left their phone number as 407-505-0178 (caller id comes up as UNKNOWN).  called them back and got man saying he was in claims department and that if I was interested in claiming the $2.5M I would need to call 1-424-777-6375 mr. michael anderson.  got an answering machine at 424-777-6375 that sounded like the same voice at 407-505-0178.  Requesting payment $499 for Clifford Davis, 217 Cushing Avenue, East Point Michigan 48021 at Western Union.  Said UPS would deliver check.  Talked with Western Union and they said that it is illegal to require money to receive money.  Western Union advised me that I should NOT transfer any money to anyone if I did not know them personally.

I had a message left on my answering machine 12/14/11 that I could barely understand.  The man said he was with "Grover International Sweepstakes" and I had won $2.5M.  He said I needed to call 424-777-6375 to claim the prize. He then told me congratulations on the win.  I thought it might be a scam and mentioned to my husband that if I had won anything like that they should have just mailed the check certified mail.  I decided to check online to see if there was any reports on that number and saw this.  Thanks to this I did not call the number.

Same thing---we just got a all from this phone number stating that we won 2.5 million dollars---taxes have all ready been taken out and that was our bottom line...The delivery person would be here at 1:00 pm to deliver the certified check and all we had to do was give him cash or a money order for $299 for delivery and handling.  I told him that i did not have that amount at home, and he asked when I would have it...I asked him if he could just take the $299 out of the 2.5 million and he said that he could not do that.  The name that this guy left was Michael Anderson--with a foreign accent.  When I called , I got a man named something Cole.  When I told him that I could not get the money for a few days, he told me to keep this a "secret".  I am so glad that this number showed up on this list and the comments were all the same...SCAM..

Same names, same scam used against an elderly person in my town. She was wise and sent nothing and called our PD. In an attempt to call back "Michael Anderson" described as a male with a Jamacian accent, @424-777-6375 the "Verizon number was disconnected". I would have enjoyed giving him a piece of my mind for trying to bilk the elderly.

Stay vigilent, the most incidious scam is the one with a person calling up and and saying either Grandma or Grandpa or Nana and waiting for the person called to give them the name of a beloved grandchild. Then they tell a sob story about being in a car in Canada and someone had drugs. They beg you not to tell their parents and wire, Western Union, thousands of dollars. Its been much too successful.
