I have received several text messages from a person claiming to be Thomas Reynolds from CSEE Shoppers (Mystery Shopping)--original ad will be posted somewhere on Craig's list.  It is a scam operation.  They send you a cashier's check for an amount a little less than $3,000, and ask you to follow the email instructions.  The email instructs you to deposit the check into your bank account, wait until it clears, then proceed to the two addresses listed in the email to purchase GreenDot cards, in increments of $500 each.  My advice to you:  call the bank that supposedly issued the cashier's check, who will then verify it to be a fraud; the bank states that they get several of these calls DAILY!  

This scam is an oldie. People need to be aware that a check can take 4 to 6 weeks to clear. Yes, even in the 21st century. A quick answer to these people is to tell them you cannot proceed for 8 weeks, until the check clears. Then as you said, call the issuing bank. The Bank name, address is usually real, it's the transit number that is usually fake. Don't even bother depositing the check, it's always fake. 100% of all job offers by fax, text, or email are fake. Every one.

I also have recieved text messages from this number from a BRIAN NELSON saying he works for Mystery shoppers and I recieved a check for $1770.00 and I was asked to deposit 3 green dot cards from two locations and keep the rest. It seemed odd when I told him I do not have a bank account and I asked if I could just go to a check cashing place and he immediatly said NO!!! I must deposit it into my back and withdrawl the money in 3 days because they are also surveying how long it takes for the bank to cash it! THAT WAS A MAJOR RED FLAG so I ended up to doing anything with the check and decided to research this number and came upon this page. I texted him with a picture of this page and said THANKS FOR TRYING TO SCAM ME!! Guess he had nothing else to say because there was no text back!!!

805-566-0389 his name is craig hathaway wanted me to get 2 green dots from one store and then 2 from another. $1997 was the cashiers check. So glad i found this sight. I told him i deposited it. He said good then you can do your task tomorrow, i said nope.
