As of today (01/18/2012), I've been enjoying my day off trying to clear my husband's name. It was brought to my attention that criminal charges are being filed today 5ETS against my husband for not able to pay back a loan. Phones started early in the morning Eastern Standard Time from the telephone number #424-210-3580. I handle the check book, and know for a fact that we DID NOT accept a loan for the amount of $500.00. MICHAEL DAVIS does have the Middle-Eastern dialect and he says he from The McKinney Law Firm. He mentions the conversation is being recorded and that what he says is courtesy information. He has access to information you normally put on an application. So, Mr. Davis had this advantage to appear professional. So, I am worried. I asked for about "my" options, and right away, Mr. Davis offered me a settlement. I was all about the options of OCS (Out of Court Settlement) because of the potential consequences of "being arrested" and fear for my husbands' career, I asked for repayment options. ***Let me say, he didn't fool me, but he was good enough to just do that. When I asked for more information, Mr. Davis was becoming irate. In between phone tags, I did a little research on my own. And the more I was overcoming my anxiety; I realized it wasn’t adding up. Then I start to think: “My bank statement shows no evidence of deposits or deductions. No email notifications. No phone calls until now? And this guy wants to give me a courtesy call and say he’s going to file “criminal charges” within my jurisdiction today unless I come up with the money.” What sparked my interest is how he would like to receive the payment via GREEN DOT services. Any person, who pays bills, would assume this payment method is out of the ordinary, especially for this situation regarding a loan. Mr. Davis was instructing me to go to the nearest Green Dot provider, and from there, I will have to call him for the account information. So, before realizing that this is not sounding good, I asked kindly for a manager to approve this transaction, or to give me the “peace of mind” of being accredited and not being a scam. I assume all accreditations come with some documentation number or certification. He denied quickly on speaking to a manager, and re-directed my attention that of “my husband’s warrant” if I didn’t pay. Mr. Davis was able to fax me a “BILL” statement. And, once I received it, I already found simple errors that stood out as SCAM. I mean, I could draft up a better bill statement. After looking over this statement, it reflects the levels of trust we as consumers put into the hands of cooperate America. In conclusion, I would highly recommend not sending money!! Research your situation, and take the precautions needed to resolve your issue, this was just my experience. I sincerely hope this passage helps you; I have filed a complaint with BBB.org.
