A friend of mine, who is more versed in this sort of thing than I am, has gotten calls from this #, as well as me. They seem to offer the $500 "shopping sprees," sweepstakes "winnings," free prize"trips," as well as magazines sometimes. He's involved in internet communications for honest clients who only work with bona fide clients/customers. Says this # and their ilk are simply phone versions of the many offers you find on internet today, for $500 cards for some store, and other "free" item - trips, awards, etc. All involve completing some sort of multiple-purchases so extensive and rule-bound, you'd be lucky ever to see any result, and would pay $1,000 to avoid anyway. Others involve fees, such as for a "trip" which has so many constrictions and dubious accommodations, you'd probably not want to take it if they paid you. Just a bunch of scam artists and promoters, who have a team of vacuous, ill-trained CSR's hustling by phone (and/or internet as well, today).
