The caller gives a phony "case number" and says I've been charged with 2 counts of theft by an internet loan company.  I've never heard of the company or the e-mail address they claim was used.  They did know my SS # which bothers me.  They tried to get me to pay over $500 over the phone to drop charges, which let me know it was a scam.  There's nothing on my credit report or I would know of any issues.
