This was an unsolicited call that offered to send a representative to my house to discuss ways that I could protect myself from estate taxes and other costly evils that could befall me. I am a senior citizen of course. The come-on was full of doomsday scenarios in which I could loose my house, life, etc. It was very clever. The caller said she was Jessica Harper. She said she represented SRS senior resource services. The call was from the Toledo area of Ohio. There is a legitimate non-profit of that name n Colorado. There is nothing registered to that name or to Jessica Harper in Ohio. Upon questioning the caller admitted that they were being paid by various companies to "inform" seniors about their services, and, amazingly, she still insisted that her organization was a charitable institution.

Received the same call as described above earlier this afternoon. The offer was to bring an eighty page book, imagine that, eighty pages, as if I should be impressed by the very weight of the thing, to my home so that I could talk with "Eric" about the above-listed services. I don't invite any marketers of any kind to my home unless it is me who has sought out their services.

The sad part of all of this is, that if it is not these folks who are actually preying upon seniors (defined 50 yrs. to eighty years old by them), then it is some ruse by the federal government to give away stimulus funds to win sector votes, and damn the deficit! Either way, I want no part of it.
