Caller said he was with the "Sheriff's Dept" asking for donations

I asked who he was and he said "Ohio Sheriff's association". Wants only to speak to my wife. This guy is new and his voice is rough compared with the smoothie that has called here for several years. They ask for donations and the return address is a UPS Store drop box in Toledo. They are actually located in Minn. They do give less than a penny on the dollar received to various charities. The rest goes in their pocket. It is a scam similar to The Retired Navel Officers Association scam.

Called and routed to voice mail; left no message.  Sunday at 5:00 p.m.

We received a call from this number at least twice today.  We get calls EVERY DAY from this number.

This number has appeared on my Caller ID every day for a little over a week (and most days it's at least 3 or 4 times). They either hang up when I answer or listen to me ask who it is and then hang up. But today they said they were from the Maryland State Troopers Association, and when I told them I wouldn't donate they hung the phone up (or slammed rather). I'm sure it's someone running a scam from this number. Can a block be put on my phone? Or maybe I should just get rid of my phone, so I'm not bothered by all the scam artists or telemarketers.
