Got a call at my job today. Man by the name of Kevin ?????? asking me for my attorney's name and number. When I asked what it was about, he replied that it was regarding unpaid loans and me getting arrested. I told I didn't have an attorney and that I wanted details about tis debt, he referred me to Attorney James Anderson @ 415-484-6151. When I called a lady with a heavy Indian accent answers "how may I help you" First off, that isn't the way a business answers their phone. She asked my name, which I gave her since they had it anyway, she asked me to confirm the last 4 of my SS# which although were correct, I did not confirm. She had my email address too.
She stated that my payday loan was from Cash Advance USA and began rambling off their partner companies. I told her in the US attorneys NEVER make first contact. First the company, then a debt collector. She got angry and began to yell.
She went on and on about me being arrested at my job. She said that I used my paycheck as security so that's why I was going to be arrested there. She told me this would happen at 11am on Monday. (since when are you warned that you are going to be arrested)
She went on and on and on...when I cut her off and told her that I couldn't understand and that she was reading her "script" too fast, she got irate. LOL She was very rude. I played dumb and told her that I really wanted to settle my debt and asked her for details. I asked her what the loan amount and origination date were and asked her to email me a promissory note that I signed. She told me she didn't have that info. According to her, I owed $699 of which included fees. (but she couldn't tell me how much of that was fees). She said that I should have someone available to post my bond because if I stayed in jail more than 24 hours I would owe over $3000 (I'm sorry...that's not even close to how things are done in the US).
I asked her if she was making an attempt to collect a debt, she said yes. I asked her why she didn't give me legal disclaimer that she is legally bound to give (this call is an attempt to collect a debt any information obtain will be used for that purpose) she had no clue what I meant!!!!! They messed with the wrong chic!!!
