I might as well add to this.
Same story from "John" who sounds like he could be a construction manager looking for a contractor to fix up "some properties in the area.. if I'm out of the office on a jobsite, talk to the girls in the office..." Sounded a little fishy; I wondered if it had to do with an ad I put in the phonebook up north and hardly ever get calls on. Anyway, I googled the number 310-807-6268 and it is from the Los Angeles, CA area. I'm a construction contractor in central NJ....
I called the number and spoke to "Josephene" who told me I could earn $200 to $600 in an average job which should take a couple hours and I would probably be able to schedule a couple jobs per day. The work, she claimed, would be to fix up foreclosed homes for bank sale. She said all that was required was to pay a $99 fee for a background check. She asked if I had been convicted of burglary, trespassing, and one other crime that I can't remember in the past three years. Since I "passed" that screening I was "qualified" to pay alltradesnow.com $99 for the background check. $99 for a background check???? They cost next to nothing for a company that runs them all day.
Sounded real fishy to me, like the background checks, not referring work to me, would be this company's bread and butter. I told her that I would have to do more research on her company before I determined its legitimacy before paying them any money. NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR FINANCIAL INFO TO STRANGERS WHO CALL YOU!!!! !!!! If you need to pay them make sure they are legitimate first!
I'm no expert in the arena of fraud, but alltradesnow.com probably should be avoided by hard-working guys who need to make a living. Hopefully someone will track them down and expose them before they siphon money off a lot of guys needing work.
All trades now. Yeah right. Contractor management, I doubt it.
