A man with a Southern twange called, immediately asked for the owner by full name. Having recognized the caller ID of "Payment Solutions," I informed the caller that (boss' name) does not work in the office. "Is there anyone else there who handles your credit card processing." Annoyed as heck by these butt-wipes repeatedly calling after being repeatedly told we're not interested and to stop calling, I told him, "I've told you people before to stop calling!" The caller, sounding offended, interjects with hostility, "What do you mean, YOU people?!" All I could think of at this point was, "Oh, you've GOT to be kidding me!" Did this idiot cold-caller really think I was making some kind of racial reference instead of being annoyed by the same company calling repeatedly, even though they've been asked/told not to? Did he really think I could see over a non-video phone how much melanin he has in his skin?! Did he think I cared? Do these 'credit card processing companies' keep their employees locked in closets so they don't know things like caller ID devices exist? Or was he trying to play me, thinking if he acted offended over an innocent comment, I'd give in and let him connive me into a service I'm not interested in? (Assuming it isn't just an outright scam in the first place.) In any case, I just let his outburst slide because it was uncalled for and I wasn't playing his game. I continued with my warning that, if they called again, I'll blow my emergency whistle into the phone, and then I disconnected. I'm certain they'll call again.
