Called me yesterday to try to provide a better insurance rate saying that they got my number from an affiliate company online. Already told them I was not interested and to take my number off their calling list. They called twice again today.

Called my cell phone claiming to have gotten my information from other insurance carriers that I do business with (which I do not do business with any).  Tried to offer me a better auto insurance rate than my current carrier.  I told them I don't own a car and I don't even live in CA so please don't call me again.  I also informed them I am on the do not call registry.  She asked me if that was recent, I informed her my number has been on it for numerous years actually.  About to go and register a complaint with them right now.

Modern technology has given telescammers the tools to call you.
Since those telescammers are criminals, they ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocker device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.

Google "call blocker" for more information, or visit Amazon or similar sales site.

If you cannot afford or use such a tool, then:
* Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
* Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers!  All that does is verify your phone number!  And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.

* If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scammers" (or similar).  Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group.
