No voicemail was left. WTF?

I got a call from this number asking for my name linked to a construction company. Since I have one legal name and only use an extra initial for some computers, I knew that this call was suspicious. The man said it was a mistake, but he had my cell number.  I called back and there was no voicemail or answer.  I really concerned me, because I was wondering if someone was planning on opening some accounts using my name as a business entity.

Called our mainline, asking for the CFO.  Said he was from "Corporate Executive" something or other.  I asked what about, and he said he did not know.  Another person (I could not understand the name) wanted to speak to our CFO.  He said it was his second day on the job.  I told him I could not put the call through without knowing what it was about.  I offered the CFO's voicemail, which he said yes to, but did not leave a message.  I could barely understand him, his accent was very thick.

This caller and a group callers from California obtain mobile numbers illegally and sell to others. Be warned!!

Just called into my place of business this morning and left no vm.  The call was transferred from our corporate office.  Assume the person asked to speak to an officer or Manager.
