He gave us this number, and I was able to call it up and talk to one of the heavy accented persons working at this scam sham. The number is a Liverpool, NY / Syracuse, NY area code: 315-944-2628. My wife treated them like the Nigerian princes seeing if they would send 100k to get 2 million. I basically spoke really loudly and told them I couldn't hear them a number of times telling them to speak up. At one point in all of shenangians, this guy said do you think I am a fool? And at another point, when he said there was a problem with my computer. I said holy s*** really loud. My wife almost peed her pants, because she was laughing so hard.

Same as above - My guy was named "William".  I asked him if he worked for Microsoft, he said no, he was with IES, and they were calling to help clean the malware off my computer.  I thanked him for finding out that I had malware and viruses on my computer (I don't), and got the company address (101 California St., San Francisco, CA).  Then I was tired of messing around, and I let him know that the phone call was illegal since my number was on a Do Not Call List, and I did not give them permission to call me.  Since I had the name and address, I would let the Feds know, and I figured the fine was $10,000 per occurrence, so I hoped that he had lots of money. :-) He quickly said they removed my number from their list, and hung up.

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

Same Indian, very busy guy, said he was with windows and was a tech contractor for them to respond to error msgs.  My moms computer is having lots of probs. so I thought what the hell, I'll play along, even though, I don't believe anyone can actually call micro-soft with a prob....... went along, looked at the event logs, lots of error, blah, blah,..... then he sends me to www.support.me, a log-in site for him to have control of my computer.... Like that's gonna happen..... played dumb and told him he would have to speak to my husband, I pity him if he calls back tonight to talk to my husband...... kim
