I have had the same problem but the guy said his name was John Marshall, John Martin, Deputy L. Potter, and many other names. He called form (727)245-1959 and from (818)662-7269 and has been harassing me at my job because I had my cell number changed. He keeps saying that I'm going to jail for a week, then 6 weeks, and now 6 months. He even changed his number to my jobs number to try and scare me but the sad part about it is I was at work at the time and we only have one line. At the time of his call I was making a call of my own. He kept saying that charges were against me a case was drawn against me in the state where I live but was on hold unless I pay back $465 or $495. I don't exactly remember the cost but I know that he called my job on Thursday and left some numbers. I know now that it's a scam but i wish the calls would stop before his rude language gets me fired.

I received a call from this number and the guy was rude and would not tell me the reason for his call, he mentioned that he wanted to explain my situation to my attorney and not to me. I told him if this issue pertains to me than he should discuss it with me and I will relay the message to my attorney. I told him not to contact me in the future and hung up. It seems like they make random calls to scare people.

The best thing to do is to stay cool.  The guy is a fraud and a scam.  He has a thick eastern Indian or Pakistani accent.  When I block his calls, he calls from another area code.  Don't know how he does it, but besides 415, he uses 615 (Nashville, TN), and 216, (Cleavland, Ohio).
Now how on earth does he expect someone to believe his real name is "Eric Watson" with an accent as thick as his?  He's a liar, a scam, and HELL will torment and scare him for all eternity.

It's a scammer.  They threaten people with arrest and the like to scare them into paying a bogus debt.  Also, if you really WERE going to be arrested, the police would just show up and arrest you, they wouldn't tell you beforehand!

If he calls back (and he will) tell him that you've reported the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Also tell him that the FBI is monitoring and recording all calls he makes, as well as tracing his number and location.  That might help stop him from calling.  If he calls your workplace, let your HR Dept or manager know you're being harassed by a scammer.  Don't let him scare you into paying any money!
