It was a call from Ziff Davis in regards to IP White Papers that I downloaded from a website. They just wanted to confirm my email address and then asked permission to send additional white papers in relations to the topics that I was interested in on the website.

"Ziff Davis" is an out of business publisher of comic books from the 1950's. Creative fake name, got to hand it to the scammers.
