Received the automated message saying to call back or face legal action. The quality of the recording was horrible. I hope no one falls for this scam.

Same scam as other folks experienced here -- a recorded message from a very digital sounding Julie Smith of the "IRS" saying that I had to call this number (415-234-9598) back immediately or they would be taking legal action against me.
Thanks for some good info and links by RexIRS on page 1 -- definitely a post worth reviewing by everyone.

I got a call from 415-234-9598 indicating the IRS was filing a law suit against me for "not paying enough taxes." Same scam others have reported. After a couple minutes trying to get the guy to more fully identify himself, and after he asked my why I was laughing, since this was a serious matter, I hung up.

Just received a phone call from this number 415-234-9598. Terrible recording telling me that I need to call back immediately or they would take legal action. I did not call back. These people are the scum of the earth.

Pre-recorded message that was cut off on the way to my voicemail... Great way to seem legit right?
Also the fact that the 415 area code is a California one (spoofed or whatever) yet I have received tax refunds EVERY single year
Finally where the tax board is would not be a 415. If they would not call an 800 number, it would be with that area code so total scam in every way
