My mother received a telephone call early today, SATURDAY, from "Michael Carter" calling about case number 685135.  Fortunately, she knows to only ask for information so she can let her family know to take care of whatever the problem.  I figured from the scanty information that this was a scam but I called 415-215-9114 anyway and heard a heavily accented message stating that I had reached the IRS... please leave a message.  Googled the name and telephone number the scammer left and found threads with the same name and similar telephone numbers on this site.  The other numbers must be shut down and now they've moved on.  I want this number exposed, too.
