This is a scam. They'll tell you they have a warrant out because you've written a bad check.  They actually gave me the name of a bank I was with about 15-20 years ago and the last four digits of my ssn.  Then they tried to get me to verify my email address.  The one they had was also very old.  I called my local police department and theses people are scam artists.  If they call do not answer the phone.  I've also reported them to the Do Not Call registry.  I've worked with the sheriff's dept. and if they have a warrant out for you they are not going to call and let you know about it.  If it's real they'll just come and take you to jail.

Give your state attorney general a call too.  (BTW - jail will not happen even if you did owe.)

The do not call registry has nothing to do with debt collectors.  They have their own special law, and their own special Federal agency.

These [***] call my cell phone 5-7 times a day.  I have the number blocked.  The caller ID comes up as Barron Stone??
