It seems like I got this call right after I set up my Uber account from the Uber app on my smart phone, but  that could've been a coincidence. I'm on the do not call registry. This was an automated call regarding setting up a savings account/loan or something similar to that.

Uber is well known for spamming texts and calls to people. They use spoofed numbers. Remember this. The person driving you has not been checked out, and there are documented cases of Uber drivers assaulting, killing (Michigan I believe he shot and killed 6 or 7 people), and of fraud by claiming excess cleaning charges. Also remember that once they accept money to drive you they are considered a taxi by their insurance company and are no longer covered. So if you get in an accident and get hurt, well too bad, you will be on your own, because surely anyone driving for Uber has nothing of value that you could collect on.
