Rule of thumb that pretty much always works: all numbers with United States and Canada area codes (first three digits) NEVER have a fourth digit less than 2.  In this case, the fourth digit is a 1, so the number is spoofed or coming from a place other than where you think it is coming from.

My bet is that it is spoofed.

Spammer claiming to be from BGE, seemed totally discombobulated when asked to provide a return phone number for me to call to verify his relationship with BGE. They call daily, we just ignore the calls.

Got a call stating a reduced electric bill with 20% savings...I asked for a contact # to call, I was given: 1-800-979-1152.....Huh, it's a # for some vacation package...imagine that.... [***]

I got a call from this number 410 123 4567 telling me the reason for calling that I can have 75% off my NYSEG bill. I ask him where is calling from. He would not answer. I told him I am on HEAP that I am on a discount . I thank him for calling and hung up. To me this man is a Indian from Indiana in trying to scam me.
