408-438-1054 (9/12/14): The callers have identified themselves as Santa Clara County Deputies - this is a scam and has been posted as such in an alert today.  When not answered, there is a voice mail indicating that it is the “Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.” This is not a Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office phone number!  This was reported at intervals since February.  Law enforcement agencies do not make phone calls demanding immediate payment of money over the phone. If you receive this kind of call, do not make any payments. It is possible that the callers may identify themselves as members of other local law enforcement agencies. If you receive a suspicious phone call, verify it through your local law enforcement agency reference in the call.
