Got a call from that number. Told me that they were recording me for 'accuracy' and then said he was a police officer that are raising money for 2013, would I help and give a donation. when I answered that I would if they send me documentation first, he said that they do that only if I commit to give a minimum of $15. I said I could give $25. When I talked later to my husband, he told me that his friend (a real cop) told him that these type of phone calls are usually a scam to get your credit card number and signature or from a check too, to be careful.
Also, he said that IF such funds raising would be legitimate, very few money - like pennies in the dollar are forwarded to local police organization. Not a good idea.
So I tried to call back to say I won't contribute that way, but their number does not ring, just get a beep/beep/beep/beep..... Plus on top of it all, I am on the DO NOT CALL list. Looks like they don't respect that.
