As usual, the caller had an East Indian/Pakistani accent informing me that they have been monitoring my Visa credit cards and that my interest rate could be lowered to 3%. I informed him that the recorded call mentioned 0%. He agreed and wanted to know the balances on the cards and what were the expiration dates. Having entertained myself innumerable times speaking with these scam artists, I interrupted the conversation by asking what fee would be added to the balance on my credit cards for this service because it wasn't going to be free, as he implied.
For the first time, the caller would not give me the amount of the fee saying he didn't know how much it would be. From previous experience, it usually ranges from $895 to as low as $395. When my informational request failed, I politely terminated the call.
I am absolutely positive that they will be calling again. At some point in the future, I am hoping that they will give up trying to scam this old fool and my cell phone number will then be permanently erased from history. Of course, I have to live long enough for this to happen so I will keep working on that aspect of my life. One glass of very dry white French Bordeaux each day at 3 PM.
All the best.
