This just happened to me. He said the same exact thing to me about male family member, horrible accident. etc. When I pressed for more details, he provided inaccurate information and hung up.

scammer called my cell phone from this number claiming to be an EMT and claiming a female was in florida hospital, the story got more and more unbelievable but I stayed on the line, he finally got around to asking me for money to pay for medical bills for someone else involved in the fake car accident.  I asked if anyone actually believed this crap, and then he hung up.  I hope no one falls for this.

Same number called me and said they were Florida Highway Patrol and there had been an accident and I was listed as emergency contact etc.  I believed him until he then started to tell me they had a gun to my husbands head and would blow it off if I called his cell phone.  That's when I got suspicious and had my coworker call my husband.  He started swearing in Spanish and English.  He was VERY threatening.  What an [***].

Just got the same call a few minutes ago. When I told him that I had no male relatives he became very confused. It was so entertaining to mess with him because I had already heard of this scam. I have since filed a police report and I suggest that you all do the same. It took 5 minutes to do online.

Which hospital was it and what city in Florida.  I think these kinds of scammers have access to medical records.
