I got an automated call today basically telling me they were going to garnish my wages for an account. I followed the prompts and spoke to a Mike Bell who then proceeded to tell me I owed x amount and how I had frauded my account. He had my name and social security number! He said he was calling on behalf of a particular company. A company I had a loan with and got sent to collections for but just recently settled and paid off. I explained that I had already paid off the account and he asked if I had a letter stating that. Which I do. He said that I could take that paperwork with me to court. I'm already dealing with an attorney about another "collection agency" that was harassing about this same account. I called that attorney and he asked for this new company's info. I call back and I ask to talk to Mike Bell again. I ask him for his name and his firms name and my case number. I asked who he was trying to collect money for and he named off this particular company. He again told me that he was going to giving the Feds my social security number so they could find me and serve me with papers. He added how much it would cost me to go to court. He then said that I could pay $300 something to avoid this. As I was continuing to ask questions he hung up on me. I contacted the attorney I've been working with and gave him all the info. This is a complete SCAM! Do not give anyone any money. Have them send you everything in writing 1st.
