Received text message "Still for sale? if yes, email me back at rogerellis29@gmail.com because we are not allowed to use phones on military base"

This was in response to my ad on Craigslist that I posted not even 30 minutes ago. Well, if you are not allowed to use a phone, then you probably can't leave either!

It's OBVIOUSLY a SCAM.
My friends get "replies" like this when they post things on Craigslist as well. Ignore the text and erase it, they are going to scam you out of your item or money,,,,, or both!

Posted my car for sale on Craig's list yesterday. Within 30 minutes I got almost the identical text message from 406-747-8731 asking if the car was still for sale and requesting that I email rogerellis29@gmail.com because he was not allowed to use cell phones on the military base. Was a bit suspicious but emailed back that the car was still for sale.

The response: "Thank you for getting back to me. What's the condition and why are you selling it?  Any offer yet and are you the owner? I'm just asking to make sure I would not Be disappointed  in it so can you Assure me that it is in good state and that i will not be disappointed with it? I'm ready to pay your asking price, but the issue is I'm a Marine Officer and I'm not in my own state now, I'm on a secret mission in  Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany GA and  use of mobile phone is currently restricted at the military base, But I'm able to access email anytime as we will make use of laptop so my only quickest payment option is PayPal as i can send money via PayPal anytime.Since I'm requesting this transaction to be done via PayPal. SEMPER FI"

Scam written all over this reply. Bad grammar and poor language usage, PayPal payment, military affiliation-the-primary mission of the MCLBA is to rebuild and repair ground combat and combat support equipment and to support installations on the East Coast of the United States. SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!  Deleted the text, deleted the message.

Got the same one on a car I posted on criagslist..... almost to the word.

Same email rogerellis29@gmail.com now the number from phone# 860-937-1738. texting me at 10:30 at night. Can not use cell phone but text me ?!?!? SCAM Did not email back. Checked complaints first.

Received the exact word for word email. Scam. Said he could only use paypal and was out of state on a secret mission for the military . Then how in the hell is he going to use a side by side Utility Vehicle?!?! Watch out for this one.
