This number called, name was 'Oklahoma'. First there was a recorded message saying that 'This is an urgent message concerning your credit card account. Though there is no problem, it is CRUCIAL that you speak with us immediately concerning lowering your interest rate' blah, blah, blah. in other words, to a person who is not sharp on the uptake, it could sound somewhat coercive and threatening. I pressed '1' to talk to someone, and told her that we were on the 'DO NOT CALL' list. I asked her how she could bear to look herself in the mirror every morning, working for a company who harassed people like this. She said their service was not a scam, and that my household was approved for this offer by the credit bureau, Expedia! She verified my number and said she would have us removed from the call list.
I cannot believe that Expedia has the legal right to 'approve' people against their will for this sort of telemarketing targeting. It is shameful and disgusting that they can steal minutes of people's lives and possibly scare some confused old lady - like my mother - into thinking their credit card account is messed up. My mother used to call me almost in tears after getting one of these calls, and it took me awhile to figure out what was going on. The people at Expedia had better hope that there is not a special corner of hell reserved for deceptive telemarketers.
