so...I called back and reached a foreign-accented man who informed me that this was "a crime investigation office of the IRS" and hung up on me.

It is a scam. Report it to phishing@irs.gov. I forwarded them the voicemail, but email them saying you received a call from the number. If enough people complain, they may get the Treasury to track them down.

Got this same massage today from 469-206-9301, got the same message yesterday from 570-427-3930. Tried calling back yesterday within 10 minutes and the number was disconnected.

Received a call and vm left from one number stating the above 2 days ago. Blocked number immediately. Yesterday same recording from different phone number in different state...blocked that number and now today same exact thing f!!!
