I received a call from this number.  A woman identified herself as Nicole Cochran and said she works with the Criminal Investigation Dept. of Dorothy Thornton and Associates.  She was calling on behalf of my sister and basically said if my sister didn't call by the end of the day (7-9-10) she would have a warrant out for her arrest.  After making a phone call to someone else for help they said this person is probably just a collection agency and I shouldn't worry about it.  Well, you do worry about it when these people are so sure-sounding and give you case numbers, etc..  I'm only posting this as another warning since a different phone number was listed when I Googled DT and Assoc.

I have received a few calls from Nicole Cochran. She is claiming that I was involved in some type of check fraud. She said that she works with the same as listed. When I type in reverse search phone lookup it comes up as Global Crossing Services.I am going to call her back and will post.

she to has tried this with me said if i did not put 1353.00 on a credit card by 7 am on fri july 30 i would have a arrest warrant out after me but when the money was not on the card at 7 am she then called cause i had called here and told her i had reported her to the authories she got angry and yelled at my mother but then she said if i did not take care of this by 12 noon i would be sorry well i am on to this scammer they are mad cause they did not get my money to bad.  so i closed all my accoutn and am having my phone numbers changed and the phone numbers to the company she claims she works for they have been disconnected go figure so be aware of this company and this woman by the way she leave nasty messages on your voice mail and answering machine but when the money was not on there at 12 noon i so far have not had any more phone calls from anyone so hope this helps you all out.

i spoke with nicole cochrane as yesterday and i have to have 1128.75 in my account by 8 am on the thirteenth will they actually be able to have me picked up and put in jail if the money is not in there she worried me enough that i gave her my card number should i be worried that i will be jailed because i am pretty sure i wont have the money they requested in there

I was also harrassed by these guys.  I spoke with the Georgia Office of Consumer Affairs who handles complaints for the Attorney General in GA.  The gentleman that I spoke with said they are fully aware of the practices of Brown, Stein & Weissman and have a current open investigation.  He asked that I send a statement via USPS to GEORGIA GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS, 2 MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DRIVE SE, SUITE 356, ATLANTA, GEORGIA 30334-4600 or fax to 404-651-9018 describing my contact with this company and their practices.  He asked that I use the form located at http://www.georgia.gov/vgn/images/portal/cit_ ... mplaintform.pdf for expedited processing by their office.  He stated that it's extremely important to their case to include in my statement if the phone representative claimed to be an attorney, claimed that the firm is a law firm or alluded to the firm being a law firm or having lawyers on staff or something about a  network of attorneys that work for their firm.  He also asked me to end my statement with the line below:

I respectfully request that the firm Brown, Stein & Weissman, LLC be prosecuted under the fullest extent of the law pursuant to 15 USC §§ 1692 § 814 and State laws regarding Fair Debt Collection Credit Practices.
