There are many exceptions to the Do Not Call list too. All religious organizations, non-profits, political organizations, and anyone that you may have given your phone number to in the last 18 months are exempted from honoring the DNC list.

You may also receive calls from any company that got your number from a company that you approved to sell your number to or approved third party contact. And most people end up doing that without ever realizing it.

Called and left no message. It's been well over 50 years and thus far I have answered calls from unknown sources - NEVER, and today ain't the day either. Added to our call blocker box - bye-bye!

Follow-up - just checked this number and it is nonexistent (disconnected), thus it was spoofed. This level of lowlifes just keep changing their numbers and trying again with the same scams. This also explains varying reports of the pitch the callers were making - several are probably spoofing the same set of dead numbers. Do Not Call list has no bearing on numbers like this, unless you complain to your phone provider sufficiently to get your phone line tagged for tracing. You will have to keep a log of legitimate calls, but the bad ones will be tracked and caught - just not immediately. So far we've helped to put two in prison, hoping to improve my record even more.

Received a call at 2:20pm from this number. Asked for my husband and when told he was not here and offered to take a message, caller said maybe I could help her. She wanted to send us a brochure and asked if she could count on us to return a check/money order to support breast cancer patients. There were different levels: gold, silver & bronze. Although the voice sounded like a real person, it also sounded like a recording. Each time I started to ask a question or to say something, I would hear a clicking sound. I figured something was wrong so I hung up. the caller ID says GMAC Ins.
