caller unknown. caller remained on the line till i disconnected. no sound... no noise.. no communication, but someone was there

I've gotten calls at dinnertime for several days now. I haven't answered because the number wasn't familiar and I was busy. I decided to try google and am surprised that others have had the same experience.
This is a local call in Atlanta.
