Anyone who believes in the "Do not call list" is an ignorant fool.
Do the math sucker:
1,000,000 calls to "do not call" numbers.
lets say 800 people bite the bait and spend a few hundred dollars each or give their credit card details.
In the scenario above the scammer (800x$300) gets $240,000. Do you really think they even care about the few folks who will file? and even more so, the chance of getting prosecuted is a joke with the consumer protection agencies getting gutted by the current congress? Especially when lobby groups representing telemarketers make SURE the congress critters gut the money out of enforcement?
The scam caller (that scam caller, not the other several thousand who have your number off of the DNC list) may get a fine of up to $16,000 after they call the SECOND time. That is even if LE has the time or the resources to devote to prosecute a case.
I never bothered putting my number on the DNC list. I never call the scammers back - if you do you just validated your number....
I really don't get many calls. one every few weeks, if that.
The pay as you go cell number I listed in the DNC list got several a week.
So, be a good sucker and give telemarketers your number. By all means list all your numbers!
That way you'll be sure to get driven nuts by yourself.
